Area 51 with Reliant Coaches on the way to Tomorrowland

I was working with Area 51 last week after nearly 2 years and like normal its never a normal down to Earth job. We were picking up passengers in an amazingly decorated coach from different locations then driving to Dover where they would board a ferry and go to Belgium to the music festival called Tomorrowland.

So I set off from London and met then Area 51 guys in Nuneaten, then we made our way to the coach depot, then drove to Nottingham to pick up the first load of passengers then there were three more stops (I can't remember all the stops). Didn't get home until nearly 9am.

OLIVER MORGAN MUSIC PROMO VIDEOS

New project I'm working with a young man called Oliver Morgan, a young and talented song writer, producer and singer (a one man band). On Monday I was invited to his home to film him singing and playing his grand piano live.

This project was surprisingly more fun and creative than I thought it would be. We had filmed four songs so I had to make each song visually more interesting than the others with the limited space that I had,  I won't lie I amaze myself sometimes.

I used my trusted slider to create some nice motion so not all the shots were static, some of my favourite shots are the tracking in shots with my wide angle lens (8mm).

Documentary

It's been a long time since I've written a blog. I've been busy trying to get more short films and promos done, the aim is to top the last shorts, SHIRK and SUPER. So be ready I have some interesting projects and news coming out very soon, just waiting for confirmations.

So for now I am helping a young lady called Abigail Phiri on a documentary about World War 2 Caribbean war veterans. The pictures below are stills from the first day of shooting. Mr King MBE and Mr Wilmont were amazing men to meet. Mr King was the founder of the Notting Hill carnival and made tea for Martin Lurther King Jr,  Mr Wilmont has traveled the world as a navy seaman and as a singer with his band and met loads of famous people including the Queen and the current prime minister. That's just a slice of the pie these guys have both lived such fulfilling lives it was an honour to meet them.

I have a few more days of filming, I'll keep you guys up to date.

My Latest Short Film

My new short film is based on a song by Meshell Ndegeocello (if you have not heard of her check her out she's made some amazing and beautiful music www.meshell.com).

I've been wanting to work with my friend Nadine Woodley for ages, we use to go to university together, she introduced me to the male lead, Dwayne Nosworthy, who is also a very talented dancer. Top that off with Lee Daley as my DOP who's skills have impressed me and increased immensely.

I had hoped I could of had this project filmed and completed in one day but ended up being two full days. Both days were very fun and inspiring. Working on this project made me really realise how much of the small details need to be met to produce something which is visually pleasing. Also what I liked about this short and other shorts I've directed is having the creative control. Having Lee concentrating on the lighting and helping me set up was a big help, it enabled me to concentrate on directing and getting out the performances I wanted from both actors.

Personally I think this is one of my best projects to date. The look and feel is amazing to me. I will be putting up some screen shots soon.

Here are some production pictures.

Filming Wyen Solo - Music Video

My first music video of 2015. My friend introduced me to a great singer called Wyen Solo (www.wyensolo.com ). An interesting shoot with my friend Lee Daley as my DOP. Due to the quick turn around Wyen had a simply idea of what she wanted in her video. We had some great brainstorming ideas but all of them would of taken up too much time to produce.

So below are some production pictures.

Slider Test

In December 2014 I was given a Konova slider by a friend of mine Sandro Hyams (http://www.sandrohyams.com/). It took me ages to finally set it up and start using it, so during the Christmas break I had my children so I decided to capture them playing.

The slider took some time to get use too but I was really happy with the results. I'm thinking I want to get a motor for it so I can do time lapse tracking sequences.

The video has also inspired a short film idea using the slider, so watch this space.

Have a watch and tell me what you think. also please like and share.

It's taken a lot of planning and late nights but Lee and Dan have finally got this short film going. Not going to say much more about it since its not my project and I'm just helping to film it, but it's going to be aces (aces never said that before).

On Tuesday night we were at the first location in central London planning one of the many fight scenes in this short with Katrina and Sia, who have worked on loads of films, Kickass 2 being one of them.

I'm looking forward to filming this its going to be nuts Lee has some cool ideas and shots. Follow the progress of the film and find out more by visiting. . . .
